Oh...that old lady with the accordion you just clicked on is actually a real person named "Lissy." I actually stayed at her place in Frankfurt, Germany when my crappy command of the German language mis-confirmed me into the wrong accomodations for two nights. Silly me, thinking there was only one "Klinger" in the entire city. Lissy was in her 80s and still gigging on cruise ships after 50 years. I found it hard to shower while having to limbo under her giant underwear hanging in the shower...but she was pretty cool. Could definitely rip on the accordion.

OK...COMING SOON ON THIS PAGE: VERY RARE KUBICKI PICS OF INSTRUMENTS AND THE PRO WOMEN KUBICKI USERS I KNOW.

(so, check back as more pics arrive.)

OK...here's the first one. Technically, Ronni Crooks is a guitarist but she has filled in as a bassist when called by artists such as Memphis bluesman (and '60s legend) Sam the Sham and Motown acts...she borrows my Kubicki for the gigs because she likes the 32-inch scale length. I've played with her as my guitarist for a number of years and she is as good as the best of them. She's done a lot of NYC area studio work, been on the cover of magazines (including one that named her as one of the top three women guitarists, along with Jennifer Batten [Michael Jackson; Jeff Beck]; and Nashville's Wanda Vick [Wild Rose; CNN's house guitarist/fiddle/mandolin/pedal steel wiz.) Ronni's good enough and versatile enough to have been called by Michael Schenker [Scorpions, UFO, MSG] and the Jacksons, shared the TV interview camera with Alphonso Johnson/Neil Schon, etc. and has been included in the book "Madame Jazz" and the pages of Guitar Player. She's a former Steinberger endorser who has been playing them since Ned first made them and is a current Vigier Guitars endorser (Vigier also uses a composite neck structure.) Her guitar style's been most often compared to Jeff Beck's "Blow By Blow" period or Steve Morse but she cut her teeth on Harlem jazz and Motown funk...and can play Van Halen licks with the best of them.

Coming next....Mef Manning, former bassist of metal's Poison Dollies [CD & film appearances...and the girl my Hollywood session buddies called me to contact as a possible replacement for the bassist in Hole not too long ago.]

...in the meantime, points to anyone who can name all four basses in this background photo.
